Google, Inc. Announces the addition of Google Cloud Architecture Engineers to its top engineering team at Google Labs, a newly formed engineering team within the Google Cloud team.
Google announced a few months back that Google Labs was going to have a new team, but it was more of a brand new team, so it’s not clear if the company is announcing anything new or not, but it does include some new talent.
The new Google Cloud team is focused on cloud architecture, which is the design of data centers and their infrastructures. It’s not a new role either, but it’s definitely more focused in this area. The Google Cloud team is also focused on developing a new engineering architecture that will enable Google to build, deploy, and support the cloud infrastructure based on the open source OpenStack platform.
The new Google Cloud team was created in the summer of 2011. It’s been around for a little over a year and a half, but it’s been around since about 2010. The Google Cloud team is one of the two most important parts of Google’s cloud strategy.
