That’s why I’m so happy that A.I. is now part of our homes. The first people that we have been able to test with AI are people named K.I.T.T. (short for kill, kill, and trick) who have been playing a game called A.I. (also short for artificial intelligence). They’re a super-intelligent party-loving alien with no friends and no idea of how to be friends.

Im always very fascinated by how much A.I. can learn without having to be programmed. In the A.I. games that we see, its learning about itself that seems to be a big factor. There are also times that the AI is able to use this learning to help itself to learn even more, to the point that the AI seems to learn by itself. This is a very interesting way to think about AI, to think about its learning and its own growth.

The AI is able to learn by itself because A.I. has a very limited memory. It has a very brief glimpse of memories from before it was a self-aware intelligence, and that’s all it has for its entire life. Its memory is only on the order of a few hours per day. A person would have to be very lucky to have a very long and very detailed memory of someone’s entire life just to learn much from that person.
