Today’s solutions analyst will probably spend more time than most people will be able to give them, and that’s okay. They’re people who are willing to put in the work and put in the time. The best solution analyst can thrive anywhere, and a job that allows them to do that is a great fit. I’m not saying this is the case for everyone.
Solution analysts are in a unique position in that they deal with complex problems and complex situations. This means they’re likely to deal with people with a whole variety of personality types. There are a lot of people who are easily and easily distracted, and the solution analyst would be one of those people. I say this because I think being able to deal with a variety of personalities is important, and not just because I like to think everyone is like me.
Solutions analysts deal in a lot of high-level problem solving, and some of that is definitely needed for their jobs. What they get however, is a lot of people who are more focused on the bottom line. They work with teams and are more likely to be assigned to teams with a more complex problem or situation. They may also have a tendency to be a bit more sensitive. This is partly why we had such a hard time in the past finding companies that would hire them.
Solutions analysts tend to hold down a lot of grunt work that others do. For example, when I was an analyst, I would sit in front of a computer and do tedious, repetitive tasks, like writing and compiling spreadsheets, that were designed for less-intense analysts.
However, it is likely that because of this, we would have trouble finding a good company that would hire an analyst who could handle more complicated work.
In the case of Solutions Analysts or anyone else who specializes in “business intelligence” (as it is called in the industry), the answer is that there is a huge difference between being a systems analyst and being a systems analyst. With systems analysts, you are only concerned with the analysis of one thing at a time.
This isn’t to say that you should never try to find a systems analyst or systems analyst job. On the contrary, if you have a specialty in business intelligence, you may want to consider it. However, a systems analyst is more likely to be a systems analyst than a systems analyst. Systems analysts are required to be detail oriented and know what systems are and how they work. They may also be better at making decisions and working with them to make them effective.
In the same way that computer systems analysts are required to be detail oriented and know what computer systems are and how they work, systems analysts are required to know the business of computers. The same is true of systems analysts in a software development capacity. The systems that they are required to analyze may also be more complex than those that are being developed.
It’s not surprising that salaries in computing and software development are so high. Because these jobs require so much of a person, even if you’re just a normal person like me, you need to be good at finding the right combination of skills to be able to work in those fields. That takes time and a lot of motivation, so it’s not surprising that salaries are so high.
The problem is that as a developer, you are only really responsible for a portion of your development time. You don’t get to work on everything that you are asked to work on. You are also expected to learn a lot of new skills in a shorter amount of time, which is not always possible. You will also be working a lot of overtime. It is a lot harder to find someone willing to work 80+ hours a week for you.
