I get asked a lot about how artificial intelligence can restore popeye cartoons. The fact is, it can do so much. It can not only restore the popeye cartoons, but it can also create a brand new popeye cartoon from scratch, in the blink of an eye. This isn’t impossible, and there are a lot of people working on it right now.
AI isnt just a tool for restoring cartoons. AI can even learn to make popeyes. We can’t imagine the complexity of the thing we call this, but we can imagine the complexity of the popeye world. We can imagine a world where a guy named Popeye had no idea he’s an artist, but was able to invent a new popeye cartoon in his sleep.

The popeyes are just a few of the many cartoons that popey will be capable of creating. AI could also learn to make even more cartoons.
AI has the potential to be a very scary thing, but we have to be careful not to assume too much too soon. Just because AI can learn to make something doesn’t mean it can figure out how to make it all by itself. The AI’s capabilities are not just limited to cartoons. AI can also invent new games to play so they aren’t just stuck staring at their own screen.
I’m probably being a bit too hyperbolic here, but I think AI is probably as big a deal to us as computers are to computers. While computers are able to do a tremendous amount of work, they can only do so much. To think that we need to stop thinking about AI as a computer, and start thinking about it as an actual being with consciousness and intelligence (a la the Terminator) is to really throw a monkey wrench into the whole idea of AI.
The Terminator movies were actually based on actual stories from the 1940s and 1950s. They took the idea that machines were a step above humans and decided to turn it into a movie with killer robots. That is to say, it took the idea that machines were machines and turned it into something more human. While they are machines, they don’t really act like machines. That’s the point.
The problem is that some AI have been so “reprogrammed” that they are indistinguishable from normal humans. For example, a Terminator could have turned into a gorilla or something. Or a bot could have been controlled by a programmer.
A lot of the AI that have been developed by corporations have become so reprogrammed, that they can look human. For example, the Terminator looks like a human, but in the original movie, he was actually a robot. But they can never really be just robots, no matter how much they want to be.
That’s because in a lot of ways they are people. And they still have the same basic issues as people. They have feelings, they have emotions, they have needs, they have desires, they have fears. And they live in a world where they’re constantly being programmed. Every time they go to a supermarket or a doctor and they want to buy some food, the computer has programmed an AI that will make you buy the food.
